What a find! Illustrator Anoushka Matus may live and work in Zurich, but her appeal is international. As a professional graphic designer, her illustrations are witty, whimsical and poignant. Anoushka documents her everyday finding on her blog. and she sells her illustrations as screen prints (limited edition) in her shop. I'm sending a wave over the lake!

Clickazoo is a collection of foldable leather animals developed for Hermes. The animals laying flat in their packaging become alive when manipulated by their users. The patterns are always simple and they vary from one animal to the other. This project has originally been designed for the vienna design week in 2009, designed by Swiss Adrien Rovero. Just wonderful!

Swiss Designers Bernhard / Burkard created this wonderful toy for kids (also for grownups to be honest). You design your own marble run with the 12 magnetic colorful shapes. Smart!!

I am still of the opinion that Swiss Interior Designers are often a bit conservative, most of them use 'status symbol' furniture as a save value, no risk with new products or materials. The work of Claudia Silberschmidt, better known as Atelier Zürich, is a big exception. New ideas, fresh and touching elements, a perfect eye for colors... More work pieces on her website here!

To continue in my new series Design in Switzerland I would like to introduce you in the work of ALEXIS GEORGACOPOULOS. If this name sounds 'strange' for you, yes, origin it's a Greece name. Born in Athen, he now lives and works in Lausanne, the French part of Switzerland. He practices in his own design studio and heads the Master studies in industrial design at the ECAL.
I‘m deeply involved in the Swiss Design scene, but the majority of my readers are not Swiss... But hey, we have so much great design in Switzerland! Sandra Kaufmann is the designer behind the Strada del Sole sunglasses collection. Founded 2007 in Zurich, entirely swiss made, this brand is absolutely spectacular! Strada Del Sole frames are build in a completely different manner, you can fold the temples right against the lenses which makes them small enough to put into your pocket. To switch between the two shapes, you just put pressure on the middle and end of the temples, and it will snap into place. Really smart, the Swiss answer to Ray Ban?!
